Haven

Haven in your language

Haven works in twelve languages. Here is exactly how that works, and what changes when you switch.

How do I change the language?

Use the language menu at the top of any page. Haven remembers your choice on that device, and guesses it the first time from your phone or computer settings.

Does Dr. Ellis speak my language too?

Yes. Every question, reflection and session recap comes back in the language you chose, in everyday words rather than clinical ones. If you write to her in another language, she still answers in the one you picked, unless you ask her to switch.

Is the translation done by a person?

The screens are translated ahead of time and checked for meaning, not word by word. Dr. Ellis writes live in your language. If something reads oddly, tell her in the session — it helps us fix it.

How are the urgent help numbers chosen?

Crisis lines are picked by country, not by language, because a helpline only works where you can actually call it. Haven guesses your country from your device clock and never asks for or stores your location. You can change the country yourself in the urgent help panel.

Will the crisis line answer in my language?

Many national lines answer in English or the main local language. The worldwide directory in the urgent help panel lists helplines by country and by the languages they answer in.

Is my writing translated or shared?

What you write stays in your account, in your words. It is never translated for anyone else to read, and no therapist sees it unless you invite them.
